Bellatrix Amelia Davis

This little one came into the world on Saturday, May 15th at 2:40pm. She was born at home, in the water, and weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. We had a wonderful birth. Bo and I were assisted by our midwife, Kim, and our wonderful doula Aimee. And of course Addie who thankfully was here in the morning and helped get the tub set up just time.

Forgive my briefness - we are on baby time. This wonderful little being is occupying every bit of our time, energy, consciousness..........and we wouldn't have it any other way.

The Evolving Bathroom

Ah,modern conveniences......

Over this last year, the most bathroom we've is a toilet and a tub with a slightly glorified hose. But, after a tireless 4 day weekend of work (in addition to many many prior preparatory steps), the bathroom is now in its new location. Thanks to Ross's help and the efforts of my handyman rockstar husband, we now have a bathroom worthy of a homebirth. Check it out - bathtub (sans hose), shower, toilet, and next door laundry room. And it all works......

Yes, all the surfaces remain unfinished for the time being, but I'm still basking in the luxury of water coming into and out of the house in all the right places.

Home and Garden

So this is our house nestled in the mountains. Since moving in, almost exactly a year ago, my very handy husband has done a ton of work on the place. What you see here is a fresh exterior paint job.

In the foreground, you may notice my lilac trees (one clearly thriving and the other....not so much) between which is an enviable trench of raspberry bushes. That was just one of the results of a spectacular garden work party put on by many of our nearest and dearest as a wedding gift. Here's some more:

A little hard to decipher, perhaps, are the two garden beds, the cut down tree stump, and the seriously pruned apple tree that resulted from that same wonderful event.
